The Sampler size is good for about 1 month, assuming 1-2 servings of Super Green Smoothies day (can be shared, or can just be consumed by one person, depending on how much you consume). Kids love their Super Green Smoothies! It's basically like drinking fresh fruits and vegetables, and you should take as many glasses of these as you can in a day. Just limit your Maca and Spirulina to lower doses, such as 1/8 teaspoon and 1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon respectively. When making a big batch, these Superfoods are also distributed and lessened in dosage, so this has not been a big issue for moms based on experience.
Although pregnant Aztec women have been using Maca for thousands of years, there are no medical studies on Superfoods (i.e. Maca) and pregnant women so far, so experts caution about this. However, we do strongly recommend taking green smoothies (with less or no added Superfoods), especially for pregnant women who are nourishing not only themselves, but also their little ones. Green smoothies are bursting with life, powerful phytonutrients, and fiber straight from nature. At the end of the day, nothing can replace the power of plants in their fresh, whole form.
In terms of our body's biochemical (nutrients) and mechanical (volume via fiber) needs, yes, a Super Green Smoothie is oftentimes superior to the conventional meals of nutrient-empty white rice and animal-based viands (ulam) cooked in oil (and with little or no veggies) and can serve as an excellent meal, provided that you have enough of it (since fruits and veggies are low in calories). To give you an idea, we take about one liter per serving per person for breakfast (But take your time, the amount of Super Green Smoothies you will take will also increase naturally).
We do not advocate using Superfoods as quick fixes or magic pills and we always stress on the importance of excellent nutrition. When it comes to weight loss, this is a natural result of nourishing yourself excellently (and a Super Green Smoothie is one of the easiest ways to do that). When your body is satisfied in terms of nutrients and fiber, you will crave less and not over eat (Ever experienced eating a big meal with 3 cups of white rice only to find yourself hungry again and craving a few hours later?). You will also be excellently nourished from the high volume of fruits and veggies that you're taking in and you will naturally gain energy to want to exercise, build muscle, and burn fat. Also, when people shifting to a plant-based or cleaner lifestyle find that they lose significant weight immediately within the first month (e.g. 20 lbs), this is usually the excess water maintained by the body to suspend toxins from being in contact with our organs. When you eat clean and boost your plant-based foods, you will no longer need the excess water to suspend toxins, and yes, weight loss naturally does occur.

Super Green Smoothies are best taken on their own or at least 20-30 minutes before other meals so that digestion won't be slowed down by other foods in a conventional diet that take longer to digest (rice, animal foods, oil, etc.), which oftentimes result in temporary bloating. But if you find it more convenient for you to use this as a substitute for your typical beverage in meals, then go for what works for you.
Since Super Green Smoothies are packed with nutrients and fiber, you may also find that you are already full and satisfied after having a big serving (We take about 32 oz / 1 liter / 2 tall glasses per serving, but take your time and just gradually build your way up), so you can definitely take it on its own (If you feel hungry, up your volume). Most people also love taking this for breakfast to start their day (you can also bring a jug of this with you -- it only takes 2 minutes to make) or as a mid-day superboost instead of binging on junk food or caffeine to re-energize.
Juicing and blending both have their benefits. Juicing, where you use a juicer to extract the liquid only, allows you to take in a higher dosage of nutrients in less time, without being slowed down by fiber. This is particularly beneficial if you are sick or recovering. Blending, on the other hand, as in green smoothies, includes the whole fruit, including the fiber. Although juicing has its benefits, nothing can replace fruits and veggies in their whole form, as fiber slows down the absorption of sugar from the fruits, cleanses / detoxes the body, and keeps you full longer.
Superfoods can be used in both green smoothies and juices, though they are mixed best (dissolved properly) when using a blender.
Ease your way in, start slow. If you have too much too soon, particularly for Maca, you may react similar to allergic reactions (dizziness, mild palpitations, tightening throat, nausea, acid reflux). For Spirulina, too much too soon may send you to the bathroom (painlessly) as it has a cleansing effect. Start slow. For Maca, start with 1/4 teaspoon a day for the first 2-3 days. Our recommended daily dose is between 1/4 to 1 teaspoon a day (higher when dealing with days with higher stress, like a competition, for example, as Maca is a natural stress adaptogen). For Spirulina, start with 1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon, and increase gradually as you get used to this. That aside, their benefits are excellent!
